Large amounts of have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: “It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be hazardous.

“These kinds of products being sold, generally online, have gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their safety.

“You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the result drugs like this might have on your health.”
